Mold Removal, how important is it?

Molds are ubiquitous, and mold spores are a common component of household and workplace dust. In large amounts they can be a health hazard to humans, potentially causing allergic reactions and respiratory problems. Some molds can produce mycotoxins that can pose serious health risks to humans and animals. Pre-existing conditions, allergies, and age can intensify these affects. “Toxic Mold” refers to molds which produce mycotoxins such as Stachybotrys Chartarum. Exposure of high levels of mycotoxins can lead to neurological problems and death. Prolonged exposure, such as daily in your surroundings, can be particularly harmful.

  • Does Quick Dry Identify the kind of mold I have?

No, Florida has a statute that separates the role and responsibility of the mold assessor or Indoor Environmental Professional (IEP) and the mold remediation company. We are exceptional at setting up proper containment, removing the microbial growth, and cleaning the area.

  • What are the side effects of mold?

The effects of mold and mildew are twofold; they affect your family’s health and are destructive to your home.

Health-wise, mold is a known carcinogen, and has been known to cause flu-like symptoms including diarrhea, infections and stuffy noses.

Inside your home, mold can destroy many surfaces including furniture, drywall and wood. Mold is also an inviting habitat for bacteria, mites, roaches and rodents.

  • Will I get mold in my walls if they get wet?

If moisture is dried completely and in a timely manner, mold growth can be prevented.  Time is of the essence when addressing water damage as well as utilizing proper mitigation techniques and equipment.  Mold growth can occur if moisture is not properly addressed.

  • Can a mitigation company test for mold in my home?

Proper mold testing and evaluation can only be performed by a certified Indoor Environmental Professional or IEP.  It is recommended that the testing and remediation functions be performed by separate companies.
